Applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria to qualify for possible employment through the SSC CGL exercise. Some major eligibility criteria include
Eligible candidates must be citizens or subjects of India, Bhutan, or Nepal. Persons with Indian origins who are migrants from Burma, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sri Lanka, and other designated countries are also eligible.
Statistical Investigator [Grade-II] – Graduation Degree with Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics as an elective or compulsory subject.
Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) – Bachelor’s Degree with 60% in Mathematics in Class 12th or any other discipline with Statistics as a subject before graduation.
Other posts – Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University.
Different age relaxations per category are available to SSC CGL applicants. Applicants can get within 3 and 15 years age relaxation depending on the category they fall in.
The 2024 SSC CGL intends to fill 17,727 vacancies through its recruitment phases. Vacancies available this year have been announced by category. Successful applicants to fill each SSC CGL 2024 vacancy by category will be announced around December 2024.

Candidates eligible to take part in Tier II of the CGL 2024 must pass Tier I, regardless of their job application. The assessment scheme for each exam tier follows a negative marking pattern. 1 mark is deducted for wrong answers and ½ mark deductions apply to some computer-based test (CBT) questions and speed tests.
